- Strong name only needed when we need to deploy an assembly within Global Assembly Cache (GAC).
- Strong name helps GAC to differentiate between two versions.
- Consists of
- Name of assembly
- Version number
- Public key of public/private key pair
- A strong name can be generated with sn.exe
